The one that is so unwatchably dark that it is, quite literally, unwatchable? The one where, if you brighten up the image on your computer or TV, there is literally no image to speak of in all that inky blackness? The one where the apparent aim in the DI suite was to darken the image so much as to make it impossible to tell what's happening, where and to whom? That "Alien vs. Predator" sequel??

Holy crap, I would have taken my name off of it. Poor guy.RickRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17060339578835099120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-65265243441193653542008-06-29T03:10:00.000-05:002008-06-29T03:10:00.000-05:00Daniel Pearl's career in a nutshell:Shot the origi...Daniel Pearl's career in a nutshell:

Shot the original TCM. TCM gives him an in with people that make music videos. Invents music video cinematography. Re-invents music video cinematography. Re-invents music video cinematography again. Re-invents music video cinematography agin, revealing that the essential element of music video cinematography is reinvention. Shoots many more music videos and commercials, can't break into features. Launches feature career of Michael Bay by knocking out of the park Meat Loaf's "Anything for Love" video. Makes more videos and commercials, meeting and working with Marcus Nispel along the way. Makes videos and commercials with Marcus that get the eye of Michael Bay, who hires Marcus to remake TCM. Marcus tries to bring Pearl along, but Bay refuses and insists that he submit a reel to be considered for approval. Pearl submits three videos/commercials he did for Bay that launched Bay's career, the three that got Marcus the TCM job in the first place, and the original TCM. Gets the job, gets pegged as a horror shooter, continues to shoot for Marcus, is capable of much, much more.

But he's doing very very well for himself, so one can't feel too bad for him. I believe, but imdb doesn't confirm this, that he's also considered a producer on the original TCM and still collects royalties on that (unlike anything else he shoots).

He's a swell guy too.Willhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14009675510377729941noreply@blogger.com
