That first picture of Cinderella up there could fit in, though. The picture of the Duke could fit by some people's definition, but not mine, as his suit blends in too well with the background. (They could've put some curtains on the windows or something so that he'd stand out from the background, though.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13026223469597010422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-22275291068843784802013-06-15T00:23:25.697-05:002013-06-15T00:23:25.697-05:00I'll admit that part of my fascination for thi...I'll admit that part of my fascination for this movie comes from having a fairly muted feeling towards Cinderella itself, and I definitely get that there are lots of good reasons for hating it. But boy, do I ever enjoy movies that try as hard to break themselves as this one does.

Also, I love you all dearly, but I am going to need a long, restive break before I even imagine reviewing Sophia the First.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09491952893581644049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-39773777395298881562013-06-14T12:16:12.951-05:002013-06-14T12:16:12.951-05:00I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one whe...I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one when I watched it, but that might be because the first two Cinderella movies fill me with rage.

Also, I second Trish's suggestion that you write about Sophia the First, which felt like it was created by the marketing team for Disney Princess. It also inexplicably features someone who is from New Jersey doing the world's worst fake British accent in a film where Disney coughed up the funds to hire a lot of relatively big name actors to do voices.Monica Reidahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05226851228295746754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-55781445201051866872013-06-14T11:26:20.844-05:002013-06-14T11:26:20.844-05:00I enjoy reading your reviews (especially your Disn...I enjoy reading your reviews (especially your Disney ones), however I actually think this is one of the worst sequels because of its very poor continuity with the original.

Other than the strange sight of the stepsisters doing all the housework, there's the strange sight of the fairy godmother using her powers to throw a "magical anniversary picnic" and the complete change in the personality and motives of the king.

I find it hard to accept that the king is suddenly against the idea of the prince marrying the girl who fits the glass shoe (was he drunk the night before?) and apparently having been married to a clumsy Anastasia lookalike when he had originally reacted to the stepsisters appearance with disgust.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-48215747309214417062013-06-13T17:37:04.834-05:002013-06-13T17:37:04.834-05:00"...the Cinderella universe, the most syrupy,..."...the Cinderella universe, the most syrupy, pink ribbons 'n tea cakes-besotted of all the Disney Princess sub-franchises."

I've said this before and I'll say it again: You have to top the despair sundae that is the Disney DTV sequel collection with the horror cherry that is the "Sophia the First" movie. Cause, buddy, you haven't even seen how "we have your daughter's worst interests at heart"-y the marketing of the Disney Princess franchise can get.

On the subject at hand. My God, I was assured by people whose opinions I generally respect when I did my own mini sequel marathon (and as an aside, I salute you sir for muscling it through all of them) that this one was actually good. Those people were very wrong and they should feel bad. I'm surprised you made no note of my "favorite" scene: the very special way Prince Charming chooses to leave the castle late in the film. Had to rewind and rewatch that a few times before it fully sank in that it had actually happened; somebody actually animated that. On ones, from the look of it. Somebody put some *effort* into that.Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08108657342054862720noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-41582491718485337552013-06-12T06:16:10.509-05:002013-06-12T06:16:10.509-05:00The 'grinning Cinderella title card' remin...The 'grinning Cinderella title card' reminds me of the opening credits sequence for 'Bewitched'.polynomialpalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18202324172573764841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-86731432590819482292013-06-12T03:26:41.652-05:002013-06-12T03:26:41.652-05:00Part of my enjoyment from your Disney retrospectiv...Part of my enjoyment from your Disney retrospective partly comes from the thrill of watching the same workhorse VO artists fill bit parts in nearly every film (Bennett, Hale, Burton, Cummings, etc). It's both amusing, in the sense that Disney springs for the same wheelhouse of talented actors with right-price rates, and heartening, because dammit, I don't want these men and women to stop finding work.

Also, the notion that Commander Shepard voices an incarnation of one of Disney's most blase main heroines is delicious.Andrew Testermanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17636448677366233823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-39930609799617439112013-06-12T00:23:00.023-05:002013-06-12T00:23:00.023-05:00After Mass Effect 3 I am weary of any three-quel w...After Mass Effect 3 I am weary of any three-quel with Jennifer Hale as the lead voice actor. I don't know if you're a gamer, Tim, but I almost recommend you play the Mass Effect trilogy, or at least the third one, in order that you may experience what is quite possibly the worst ending to anything in the history of storytelling.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18107667687751077093noreply@blogger.com
