And as long as they can scrape $15 million out of horror fans (they can, unless the film is indescribably awful - and even that didn't keep The Devil Inside from doing huge numbers) - they'll still be massively profitable, and they'll still make the things.

Not a happy thought at all, I understand.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09491952893581644049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-44032782450476723522014-01-09T10:07:26.349-06:002014-01-09T10:07:26.349-06:00Well, I should probably add Rec to the list, too. ...Well, I should probably add Rec to the list, too. That movie's awesome. Shame the sequel decided to riff on demonic possession.

Not only did it make Rec 2 frustratingly silly and lame, but it actually almost ruined the first one retroactively, too.The.Watcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06746957245529915320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-57673538326112801632014-01-09T10:04:12.838-06:002014-01-09T10:04:12.838-06:00I honestly almost cannot believe that the found fo...I honestly almost cannot believe that the found footage gimmick has survived this long. It brings nothing to the table and only serves as a distraction.

Of all the cornucopia of found footage films released over the years, only three make it work - Chronicle, Cloverfield, and PA.

The latter fucking sucks, but at least it justifies the use of the gimmick, Chronicle works despite it (how much better would it have been as a normal film?) and Cloverfield I actually really like. Especially the patry in the beginning serving as an intro to the characters as well as a clever tape redub. But that's what? One movie, out of hundreds?The.Watcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06746957245529915320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14812333.post-28577610618682551172014-01-09T09:37:17.163-06:002014-01-09T09:37:17.163-06:00I'm planning on seeing this for exactly one We...I'm planning on seeing this for exactly one Welsh reason. I can almost swear they release a new horror film every other week, ranging from balls-out bloodfest, traditional horror featuring myriad of indigenous demons, and inexplicably ridiculous possession flicks. The country has a very rich history of horror, and I'd love it if you ever consider delving into it some time (*barring that, an Asian-themed Summer of Blood would still please me to no end).
